Anne Hathaway, soon to be seen opposite Steve Carell as Agent 99 in the upcoming Get Smart remake, has been spotted apartment-hunting downtown with her boyfriend, real-estate developer Raffaello Follieri. The actress, star of The Devil Wears Prada and Becoming Jane, and Follieri, who was sued last spring by billionaire Ron Burkle for allegedly misappropriating funds in a development deal, are supposedly in the market for a luxe loft. A source says they recently checked out a four-bedroom on Broadway between Broome and Spring Streets that’s available to rent for $30,000-plus per month. Past press reports have made much of Follieri’s appearances at events with a bodyguard, whereas the popular Hathaway travels sans entourage; apparently, nothing has changed, as he brought security for their tour of the apartment and she showed up on her own. Calls to their representatives for comment went unreturned.

“On the set of Warner Bros. Pictures’ Get Smart, a modern update of the classic TV show, Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway shot an action sequence. Being pursued by the enormous Dalip Singh, Agent 99 (Hathaway) is temporarily knocked down leaving Smart (Carell) to fight. The key to this scene is Smart’s one-liners about his own inability to make an impact. Timing the jokes to the action are a new complication for the comedian. “There are so many people involved with something like that,” said Carell. “That big explosion that obviously I have no control over, delivering the line and having something explode behind me exactly on cue. That just speaks to the fact that those guys really know what they’re doing and we did one take of that because frankly, we could do it 50 more times and I don’t know if timing wise it could have gotten better than that.” Read the rest of this entry »
17/01 Hathaway: ‘I’m a terrible dancer’
Actress Anne Hathaway discovered she’s a terrible dancer while shooting period movie Becoming Jane, because 18th century party-goers did more than just “shake their butts”. The 24-year-old, who stars as celebrated author Jane Austen in the film, had to use her brain to master the complicated choreography involved. She says, “Nowadays all you have to do is shake your butt and you’re a good dancer but back then there was actual choreography. “I’m a terrible dancer but I do think like one, so all the actors looked at me as a traitor.”

Screen siren Anne Hathaway has confessed to a secret crush – on ageing movie co-star Alan Arkin. The 25-year-old actress shot love scenes in Becoming Jane with heartthrob James MCAvoy, but insists her head was turned more by 73-year-old Arkin, her co-star in Get Smart. Hathaway tells the New York Post’s gossip column Page Six, “He was absolutely my favourite leading man so far. Even though I am talking, I will totally admit that I loved kissing him. Actually. I think there is someone I’m working with who’s hotter: Alan Arkin. “Seriously. I’m doing Get Smart with him right now and he is so sexy, it’s actually a little distracting.”

Ads featuring Anne will hit blogs and magazines everywhere starting September 2008. Lancôme’s latest spokesmodel was Kate Winslet.
