25/04 Hathaway primed for prank
Former wrestler Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson played a cruel prank on Get Smart co-star Anne Hathaway after she accidentally kicked him in the head – he painted on bruises and pretended to be seriously wounded. Hathaway was mortified when a stunt scene went awry and her high heel connected with The Rock’s forehead – and he didn’t help to make her feel better. Get Smart director Peter Segal explains, “Anne was so apologetic, but he milked it – he painted little bruises on his forehead and came up to her later and pretended that he was wounded.”
16/04 Heigl: ‘Hathaway was scared of ‘Knocked Up’ role’
Actress Anne Hathaway turned down the lead role in romantic comedy Knocked Up because she deemed the movie “too radical”, according to the film’s star Katherine Heigl. The Grey’s Anatomy beauty landed the role of Alison Scott opposite Seth Rogen after Hathaway, who was the original choice of director Judd Apatow, refused to take the part. But Heigl was only too happy to be cast – and was even delighted when audiences were shocked by graphic footage of a baby’s head crowning during the movie’s birthing scene. The 30-year-old says, “I think Anne found the film a little too radical especially with the shot at the end! “Seeing a baby’s head poking through was a little strong but the reaction of the audience at that point was so extreme. They just screamed – especially the men!”

Anne, 25, recently told MTV, “I’m about to go off and make a movie with Kate Hudson called Bride Wars, it’s like Wedding Crashers meets Old School,” she grinned. “Kate Hudson and I play people who’ve been best friends since we were little girls. Anne Hathaway’s boyfriend Raffaelo Follieri has been arrested and charged with trying to pass a bad cheque, reportedly for around $250,000 (GBP125,000). New York police spokesman Detective Martin Speechley confirms officers picked up and charged Follieri on Thursday (April 03, 2008), while TMZ.com reports the Italian property developer bounced a cheque worth $250,000 (GBP125,000). The website claims Follieri has since been released from custody and is working with police to sort what he claims is a misunderstanding. Last year (2007), U.S. supermarket billionaire Ron Burkle sued Follieri for allegedly squandering $1.3 million (GBP650,000) of his business money to support his lavish lifestyle. Follieri denied the accusation.
01/04 Hathaway honours brother at human rights gala
Actress Anne Hathaway braved a family death to attend a gay rights gala in Los Angeles at the weekend (March 15, 2008) to honour her brother. The Devil Wears Prada star was handed the Human Rights Campaign’s Ally For Equality Award during its annual Los Angeles celebration at the Hyatt Century Plaza hotel. Despite the family tragedy, Hathaway insisted she would not have avoided the gala at any cost. The actress revealed her brother Mike is gay and recalled the moment he first came out to the family. Hathaway said, “We hugged him, said we loved him and that was that.”
