27/11 McAvoy tips Hathaway for Oscar
James McAvoy has named Anne Hathaway as his pick to win this year’s best actress Oscar for her role in Rachel Getting Married. Writing as part of Variety’s ‘Contenders’ feature, the Wanted star said Hathaway’s performance left him “compelled to watch – sometimes through my fingers”. Jonathan Demme’s film sees the Princess Diaries actress as Kym, a habitual substance abuser on weekend release from rehab to attend her sister’s titular nuptials. And with the family already fractured through Kym’s past, her return sets the stage for deep-seated tensions to mar the wedding. For McAvoy, Hathaway’s success in allowing the audience to identify with her character – despite her frequently “repellent” behaviour – is the key to her being tipped for an Academy award nomination. “Anne Hathaway has that indefinable quality of making an audience identify with the character she is playing,” he explained. 24/11 Annie in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’
Here’s the first batch of pictures from Annie portaying Andy Sachs in the high praised movie The Devil Wears Prada:
21/11 Anne Hathaway’s new beau another loser?
It looks like Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway can’t get enough of opportunists. After splitting from fraud Raffaello Follieri, who is now behind bars, the actress has reportedly moved on to another social climber. The Devil Wears Prada star was spotted vacationing with Adam Shulman. An insider said that Shulman is not much of an improvement from Follieri. “Adam is known as an opportunist,” the New York Post quoted an insider, as saying. “When he was at Brown (University), he went after all the heiresses. It’s like Anne is addicted to losers,” the insider added. However, Shulman’s representative made no comments on the issue.
18/11 Hathaway: ‘I Only Own Three Pairs of Shoes’
Anne Hathaway only owns three pairs of shoes. The Devil Wears Prada actress finds it amusing that she is classed as a fashion icon – because she wears the same old footwear time-after-time. She says, “I actually only have three pairs of shoes which I wear to all the premieres and award shows. “I have a pair of black Pradas, Manolo Blahniks and a pair of Marc Jacobs which I’ve worn for five years now but nobody’s ever noticed. “I guess the secret is out now, but I won’t stop.”
16/11 Hathaway flattered by oscar buzz
Rachel Getting Married star Anne Hathaway says she is flattered by the Oscar rumours swirling round her latest role. In the film, the 25-year-old, plays fresh-out-rehab Kym as she returns to her sister Rachel’s (Rosemarie DeWitt) wedding. “I have gotten some Oscar buzz, which is very cool.” “But I think it’s a little premature to get excited about – but it’s very flattering.” Next up for Hathaway is 2009 romcom Bride Wars, while the following year she will star in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland alongside Johnny Depp. On her future co-star the actress said: “I met him at the MTV movie awards when I gave him an award and he kissed me on my cheek – that was very thrilling. “I’m working on getting him to kiss the other cheek, that’s why I did the movie, Tim Burton is great, but I just want Johnny Depp to kiss me.”
12/11 Hathaway’s ’scary’ fan letters
First of all, some site news: As you can see, the full gallery is “registered only” from now on and you need an account to access it. Here’s what you have to do, just register your desired name (which is fast and free) and wait until I activate your account. Sorry for being soo secure, but I got contacted by an agency at one of my other sites and to be honest, it’s pretty scary. The full fansite business is just a hobby for me and I don’t want to get myself into trouble. I hope, you can understand my point of view!
Otherwise, here are some cute Anne news: Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway often receives unpleasant letters from fans, insisting some of the notes have ranged from “scary” to “just weird”. The Devil Wears Prada star admits she attracts a lot of unwanted attention – and some of it leaves her feeling extremely uncomfortable. She says, “It’s nice to get feedback from people who see the movies, but I have a few scary letters I could do without. “I have been asked for pictures of my bare feet, which is just weird.” But Hathaway refuses to let the unsavoury items in her mailbox get her down. She adds, “I try not to take those too seriously, because mostly everyone is nice to me.”
09/11 Hathaway dating actor Shulman?
The identity of Anne Hathaway’s mystery new boyfriend has been revealed – he is actor Adam Shulman. The 25-year-old actress last month revealed she had found love again, five months after splitting from her jailed boyfriend of four years Raffaello Follieri. She refused to reveal his name, but the new couple have been caught together enjoying a break in New Orleans, Louisiana – where Hathaway is promoting her new movie Rachel Getting Married. Shulman, 27 – the former star of TV series American Dreams – confessed to Life + Style magazine, “We met through mutual friends. I came to support Anne. We’ve never been to New Orleans before – it’s our first time.” Hathaway said in October of her then-unknown beau, “You know when you don’t know someone very well…you just meet them and you’re like, ‘Wow, you really have it going on’?”
07/11 Hathaway to be honored at Palm Springs film festival
Anne Hathaway has been taking over multiplexes with everything from the action/comedy fare of Get Smart to a dramatic turn as a recovering addict in Rachel Getting Married, with a performance netting her Oscar buzz. Throw in a scandal involving her ex and a gig hosting Saturday Night Live and she may very well be the “It” girl of 2008. Now the actress can add accolades from the Palm Springs International Film Festival to her growing list of honors. Hathaway, who gained fame for roles in movies such as The Princess Diaries and The Devil Wears Prada, will receive the Desert Palm Achievement Award on Jan. 6 at the Awards Gala at the Palm Springs Convention Center. “We’re very excited to have Anne Hathaway coming to our awards gala,” festival chairman Harold Matzner said. Hathaway, will receive the award for her performance in Rachel Getting Married, a film directed by Jonathan Demme. Hathaway plays Kym, a recovering addict who has been in and out of rehab for a decade but is allowed to leave to attend her sister’s wedding. The return of Hathaway’s character brings out the underlying family tensions on the happy weekend. Up next for Hathaway is the romantic comedy Bride Wars, which opens in January. She is now shooting the Tim Burton-directed Alice in Wonderland with Johnny Depp. Actresses who have received the Desert Palm award include Oscar winners Charlize Theron and Halle Berry as well as Kate Winslet, Laura Linney and Naomi Watts.

03/11 DVD reviews: Clever extra helps viewer ‘Get Smart’
Steve Carell slips on Maxwell Smart’s spy-spoofish paraphernalia in “Get Smart,” a silly comedy based on a decades-old TV series starring Don Adams and Barbara Feldon. Turns out the movie’s not as awful as you may have imagined — especially with the “Comedy Optimization Mode” engaged at the start: A phone-booth icon pops up onscreen, click it and you see an alternate version, or versions, of the same scene, usually with ad-libs funnier than what made it into the theatrical version (which is also on the disc). Tip: Skip the Terence Stamp alternates; not funny. Carell’s timing is on target as the analyst-turned-agent, and he and Anne Hathaway as his reluctant veteran partner Agent 99 meld well. Most of the physical gags work but the verbal jokes are more hit than miss, and the plot is skimpy: CONTROL, a good agency (entered via a phone booth), tries to foil a fiendish plot by KAOS, a crime syndicate. And any similarities to the James Bond movies are not coincidental. Also on Blu-ray. Extras: Alternate scenes with different versions of jokes on single disc. Gag reel, making-of short, bit with Carell riffing in different languages, digital copy, more on two-disc DVD set and Blu-ray.
