Quoting Annie
“I gave up my struggle with perfection a long time ago. That is a concept I don't find very interesting anymore. Everyone just wants to look good in the photographs. I think that is where some of the pressure comes from. Be happy. Be yourself, the day is about a lot more.”

Hathaway dating actor Shulman?
Hathaway to be honored at Palm Springs film festival
Anne Hathaway has been taking over multiplexes with everything from the action/comedy fare of Get Smart to a dramatic turn as a recovering addict in Rachel Getting Married, with a performance netting her Oscar buzz. Throw in a scandal involving her ex and a gig hosting Saturday Night Live and she may very well be the “It” girl of 2008. Now the actress can add accolades from the Palm Springs International Film Festival to her growing list of honors. Hathaway, who gained fame for roles in movies such as The Princess Diaries and The Devil Wears Prada, will receive the Desert Palm Achievement Award on Jan. 6 at the Awards Gala at the Palm Springs Convention Center. “We’re very excited to have Anne Hathaway coming to our awards gala,” festival chairman Harold Matzner said. Hathaway, will receive the award for her performance in Rachel Getting Married, a film directed by Jonathan Demme. Hathaway plays Kym, a recovering addict who has been in and out of rehab for a decade but is allowed to leave to attend her sister’s wedding. The return of Hathaway’s character brings out the underlying family tensions on the happy weekend. Up next for Hathaway is the romantic comedy Bride Wars, which opens in January. She is now shooting the Tim Burton-directed Alice in Wonderland with Johnny Depp. Actresses who have received the Desert Palm award include Oscar winners Charlize Theron and Halle Berry as well as Kate Winslet, Laura Linney and Naomi Watts.

DVD reviews: Clever extra helps viewer ‘Get Smart’
Steve Carell slips on Maxwell Smart’s spy-spoofish paraphernalia in “Get Smart,” a silly comedy based on a decades-old TV series starring Don Adams and Barbara Feldon. Turns out the movie’s not as awful as you may have imagined — especially with the “Comedy Optimization Mode” engaged at the start: A phone-booth icon pops up onscreen, click it and you see an alternate version, or versions, of the same scene, usually with ad-libs funnier than what made it into the theatrical version (which is also on the disc). Tip: Skip the Terence Stamp alternates; not funny. Carell’s timing is on target as the analyst-turned-agent, and he and Anne Hathaway as his reluctant veteran partner Agent 99 meld well. Most of the physical gags work but the verbal jokes are more hit than miss, and the plot is skimpy: CONTROL, a good agency (entered via a phone booth), tries to foil a fiendish plot by KAOS, a crime syndicate. And any similarities to the James Bond movies are not coincidental. Also on Blu-ray. Extras: Alternate scenes with different versions of jokes on single disc. Gag reel, making-of short, bit with Carell riffing in different languages, digital copy, more on two-disc DVD set and Blu-ray.
Agyness Deyn inspired Anne Hathaway’s flop hairdo
American actress Anne Hathaway has revealed that the not-so-good hairdo she got for her role in the drama Rachel Getting Married had been inspired by top British supermodel, Agyness Deyn. Hathaway had the role of a reforming rehabber, and wanted her hair to look the part by giving it a choppy look. “When I was reading the character Agyness Deyn had just come out and emerged as this new, young force. I just pictured Kym [Hathaway''s character] as a punker who was probably high and decided to cut it and it didn’t work”. “I went to my hairstylist and he actually let me help cut it off, it was fun,” she said. The actress, whose personal life has been going through some troubled times, is still doing good professional, as one of the most in-demand actresses. But Hathaway does not let all the fame and fortune go to her head, and states that someday it will all come to an end. “Nothing lasts – it’s coming and it’s going to crush me at some point,” she stated. “If you go into acting and think you are always going to be at the top of your game you’re setting yourself up for defeat. Right now things are easier, but I don’t expect it to last,” she added.
