Hugh Jackman is trying to persuade his Oscars dancing partner Anne Hathaway to join him on the Carousel. The Aussie star has developed a script for the beloved Stephen Sondheim musical and he wants Hathaway to play Julie Jordan opposite his Billy Bigelow. He says, “I’ve been looking to do a musical film for some time and after things like Moulin Rouge!, Chicago and Hairspray, I think there’s a real opportunity there.” And he’s clear only Hathaway will do as his leading lady: “I’ve been filling up her answering machine with messages about Carousel.” Hathaway, who joined Jackman for a song and dance at the Oscars, is about to embark on her own musical journey – she will star in a new theatre and film adaptation of The Wizard of Oz star Judy Garland’s life.

Anne Hathaway, William Shatner and Benjamin Bratt were among the winners at the 2009 Prism Awards, honouring Hollywood productions which raise awareness of drug-related issues. The Los Angeles ceremony, which took place on Thursday (April 23), saw Hathaway praised for her role in Rachel Getting Married, in which she played a troubled drug addict. Shatner was honoured for an episode of hit TV show Boston Legal, and Bratt was lauded for a multi-episode storyline on The Cleaner. Several TV shows were also praised for accurate portrayals of mental health and addiction themes, including King of the Hill, Law & Order: SVU, and The Office.

Arriving on a flight from New York City, Anne Hathaway was spotted at LAX International Airport on April 15. The Rachel Getting Married hottie looked cool and casual as she made her way through the terminal, sporting a grey jacket over a blue top with black trousers and white shoes. Thanks to GossipGirls!

Anne Hathaway has not signed up to become the new face of Marc Jacobs. Reports claimed the designer had promised to dress the actress for high-profile events. ‘I’m afraid that is not true,’ a spokesman for Jacobs tells People. ‘Marc and Annie are good friends, but there are no plans of her appearing in our ads.’ Victoria Beckham is his current muse.
