Focus Features has slotted Anne Hathaway-Jim Sturgess starrer “One Day” for limited release on July 8. Summer berth marks a vote of confidence for the romantic comedy, since Fourth of July tentpoles, which bow the week before, will hold through the holiday. This year, July 4 falls on a Monday. “One Day,” directed by Lone Scherfig (“An Education”), follows two friends, played by Hathaway and Sturgess, who meet during their graduation in 1988 and reunite only on the anniversary of that day for the next 20 years. David Nicholls, who wrote the novel on which the project is based, also penned the script.
